Biography
Dr. Nannan Thirumavalavan is a fellowship-trained and board certified urologist who specializes in male infertility, microsurgery, sexual dysfunction and men’s health. He is an expert in penile implants and vasectomy reversals and is University Hospitals’ Chief of Male Reproductive and Sexual Health.
Dr. Thirumavalavan attended the Boston University College of Arts and Sciences for his undergraduate degree and then went on to complete medical school at Boston University School of Medicine. Subsequently, he completed his Internship in General Surgery and Residency in Urology at Boston Medical Center. He then completed a National Institutes of Health sponsored fellowship in Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Awards & Recognition
Dr. Thirumavalavan has earned numerous awards in his career including the AUA Men’s Health Traveling Fellowship in 2014, the NIH Travel award in 2018 for the American Society of Andrology, and the Society for Male Reproduction and Urology Traveling Scholarship in 2018. He has contributed significantly to the field of men’s health with numerous journal articles and book chapters on topics ranging from penile implants, infertility, and varicocele repair. He is also an invited reviewer for major medical journals, such as Fertility and Sterility, Sexual Medicine, and the International Journal of Impotence Research. He teaches and mentors resident urologists and medical students.
Personal
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter. He enjoys playing golf and is an avid lacrosse fan, being a former collegiate player and youth coach. He looks forward to getting to know you!
